Oldham Council urged people to visit a popular beauty spot in ‘quieter times’ as the car park filled up on Good Friday.
Dovestone Reservoir is extremely popular with walkers and families – with people travelling from far and wide to walk around the reservoir and in the surrounding moors. People often flock to the spot during school holidays, and this Easter Bank holiday is no exception.
Pictures taken earlier this morning showed scores of cars lining up for the car park. Drivers were also spotted parking in nearby lay-bys as the car park became full.

At around 11am, the council said all parking spots had been taken. Dovestone Reservoir is expected to remain extremely busy today and over the rest of the weekend, with walkers urged to ‘consider visiting during quieter times’.

The council also suggested that people ‘explore alternative spots nearby’. A post on the Oldham Council Facebook page said: “Dove Stone car park and lay-bys are full!
“Looks like it’s a popular day to explore. Please consider visiting during quieter times or exploring alternative spots nearby.”
