A Metrolink tram stop has been closed due to an ‘ongoing police incident’.
The emergency on Sunday morning is surrounding Central Park Metrolink stop in Newton Heath, Manchester.
Metrolink said trams were ‘unable to stop’ there due to the incident.
The order, they said, was at the instruction of Greater Manchester Police.
Passengers will not be able to alight or board ‘until further notice’.
Writing on Twitter, Metrolink said: “Due to an ongoing police incident at Central Park we are unable to stop at Central Park stop.
“This is at the instruction of Greater Manchester Police.
“Passengers will be unable to board or alight trams there until further notice.”
The nature of the incident has not been revealed, although a nearby stretch of Oldham Road was closed earlier due to a road traffic collision.
No further details have been confirmed, but the closure is affecting services on the Rochdale via Oldham line.
The Manchester Evening News has contacted Greater Manchester Police for comment.
