Boy, 7, taken to hospital after collision at retail park in Oldham

A boy aged seven was taken to hospital after a road traffic collision in Oldham.

Emergency services were called to Broadway, at Elk Mill Retail Park in Royton, at around 12.30pm on Saturday.

Greater Manchester Police said roads in the area were closed as a result.

The force, in a statement, said the child, understood to be a seven year-old boy, was taken to hospital ‘as a precaution’, but thankfully his injuries are ‘not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening’.

No arrests have been made and roads were later reopened.

In a statement, GMP said: “We were called just after 12.30pm to reports of a road traffic collision involving a child on Broadway, Elk Mill Retail Park.

“Emergency services attended and road closures were put in place.

“The child was taken to hospital as a precaution, however their injuries are not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.

“No arrests were made and the roads reopened shortly after 1.10pm.”
